Synopsis
Harleen Kaur is a Sikh martial artist from the UK who holds a second-dan black belt in karate and has competed at the international level since her early teens. At the World Championships in Malta, she was knocked out in competition and came back to take silver — a result she describes not as a loss but as proof of what she can do when things don't go to plan. She is also a recipient of the Asian Women of Achievement Award, recognized not just for her athletic performance but for what she represents in communities where young South Asian women aren't expected to compete at this level.
The film follows Harleen through her training and her ambitions, which include representing Great Britain at the 2024 Olympics. She carries her Sikh identity into her athletic life without treating it as a complication — the values of discipline, courage, and resilience that karate demands are not in conflict with who she is. Warrior Kaur is a film about a young woman who has already accomplished more than most athletes twice her age, and who is only getting started.
