Synopsis
When Karen Kaur started Style with Kaur in 2014, there was no template for what she was doing. As Australia's first Sikh fashion blogger, she was working in a space that hadn't yet made room for her — a turbaned South Asian woman who wanted to talk about fashion on her own terms, combining Western silhouettes with Indian fabrics and wearing her identity as a natural part of her aesthetic rather than a limitation on it. The blog became a brand, and the brand became something with its own distinct creative vision.
Her collections — including the Dream collection and a resort line — reflect a design sensibility that doesn't ask its wearer to choose between cultures. Style with Kaur is a film about a woman who built the representation she couldn't find, and about the particular creative confidence that comes from deciding your identity is an asset rather than an obstacle. It's also just a film about someone who genuinely loves clothes and knows how to make them work.
