Synopsis
Hargun Singh traces his line through his father Gareeb Singh and grandfather Hari Singh, back to ancestors who came from Marwar in Rajasthan. They forged swords, kirpans, and spears for Guru Gobind Singh. They still work as blacksmiths. Their language is Marwari.
An elder says the community is largely uneducated, missing from government caste lists, and short of housing and work. He wants the youth in school and in business, and back with the Guru's teachings.
Pooja Kaur left school after three years. A teacher named Sarma teaches girls tailoring. Madhu, 24, wants to be a master tailor. Nirma, 16, and Tina Kaur, 18, talk about leaving the house and about girls being kept from school.
