Synopsis

In Lima, Peru, a Sikh man has built his life without removing his turban. He runs a transport and tourism business, has been married to a Peruvian woman for over 26 years, leads meditation sessions by the sea every morning at 6 AM, and is part of a small but active Sikh community that gathers in a Gurdwara in the Peruvian capital. He speaks about the difficulties he has encountered — being compared to Bin Laden after 9/11, having his son barred from school because of his turban, facing a company that wouldn't employ him because of his appearance — and about what it means to refuse to give any of it up.

The film is also about the work of translation, both literal and cultural. He is working to translate the Guru Granth Sahib into Spanish, understanding that the sacred book is an energy rather than a text and that true translation requires far more than finding equivalent words. The 22 Gurdwaras and libraries he is helping to open across Peru speak to a broader ambition: to share what Sikhism offers, not as proselytism but as an invitation. Sacred Threads in Lima is a portrait of a man who chose to be fully himself in a place that had never seen anyone like him.

We are in transit. We all will leave one day. But while living here, how do you go about it? So the holy book only talks about How you can connect with the light that separates us from thousands of years ago How we have crossed 8.4 millimeters of lives to form this body of ours. Now we are one step away from liberating ourselves from death. Happiness is not in the meat, money, clothes, house. It's a feeling. "Guru", two words. "Gu" and "Ru". "Gu" means darkness and "Ru" means light. One who brings others from darkness to light is called Guru. Or Master. That is why for us, Guru is not... It's... Guru is like living. And that's why I'm going to try The Masters so that they bless me to do this work.
