Synopsis
Dr. Devinderpal Singh Sehgal spent his career as an assistant director of ballistics and chemistry, examining alcohol samples, investigating bride burning cases, processing crime scenes, and analyzing shootings and blasts. It was intense, grinding work. His escape was kite flying, a hobby he turned into something far bigger than a pastime. He holds the Limca world record for the smallest kite that can pass through the eye of a needle, a record in the Slovak Book of Records in Europe, and an India Book of Records entry for creating kites with social messages since 1980. Anti-firecracker messages on Diwali, awareness campaigns on dozens of issues, thousands of kites carrying ideas that needed to be heard.
"When we fly a kite, we are very close to nature," he says. "Better than paying lakhs for natural therapy." That philosophy carried him to international kite festivals in China, South Korea, Poland, Malaysia, and Japan. He visits schools as chief guest, motivating children with the same quiet conviction that got him through decades of forensic work. Punjab State Award, Chandigarh State Award, 37 years of kites with purpose. This Sikhlens documentary tells the story of a man who found that the best way to rise above the weight of the world is literally to send something beautiful into the sky.
