Synopsis
When Tina Singh began working with children in her occupational therapy practice, she kept encountering the same problem: Sikh boys who wore a patka or dastaar couldn't find helmets that fit safely over their articles of faith. Standard helmets weren't designed with them in mind, which meant these kids were either forced to choose between their religion and their safety or simply left out of activities that required protective headgear. Tina decided to solve the problem herself, developing a line of helmets specifically designed to accommodate the juda or patka worn by Sikh children.
The film follows her journey from identifying the gap to bringing a solution to market, capturing the mix of practical problem-solving and personal conviction that drives the project. For Tina, this was never just a product. It was a statement that Sikh children deserve to be fully included, on the playground, on the bike path, and everywhere else. Bold Helmets is a story about the kind of innovation that happens when someone refuses to accept that their community's needs simply don't count.
